WINTER FARMHOUSE TABLESCAPE IDEA

WINTER FARMHOUSE TABLESCAPE IDEA

It’s winter!   At the time I started this post, it was fall, and in Chicago, we had 2 inches of snow and 20 degree weather.  Yikes!   I typically change out my farmhouse tablescape with the seasons, but I never got around to doing a fall tablescape because winter came so fast.   Winter is officially here, so break out the scented candles, pine cones and light the fireplace!

I like all things simple.  Well, not exactly.   I must admit sometimes I can be fancy, but us working single moms have to keep our lives as simple as possible, especially when it comes to entertaining.   You don’t want to get overwhelmed with the small things and miss the point, which is spending time with family and friends.   Here are a couple of tips to keep things simple:

HAVE A COUPLE OF KEY PIECES

To keep it simple, make sure you have a couple of key pieces that go with everything and just change out the accessories.  This is how my farmhouse tablescape would normally look.   My home décor is modern farmhouse with a little glam.  This picture is taken from the flip side.

CHANGE OUT THE ACCESSORIES FOR THE SEASON

To keep my farmhouse tablescape rustic charm, I will keep my milk container, farmhouse bucket and wood plank with green garland.  I added in gold and white glittery pine cones and then changed out the flower arrangement.  I already had some cedar branch stems from last year, so I searched for those, but you can find some similar ones here.   Then I swapped out the purple candle and replaced it with a white birch candle.     A little tip of mine is I buy seasonal decorations a couple of months ahead of the season.

CREATE A BEUTIFUL TABLE SETTING

For the table setting, I found some adorable buffalo plaid stoneware.  Get a similar look here.  And then I wanted to add some contrast, so I chose white chargers with gold silverware and green wine glasses.

I placed white napkins between the dinner plate and placed the salad plate on top

I bought a set of gold silverware sold here by Threshold.

I used both stemless and stemmed wine glasses similar ones found here.

That’s it, mommies!   Who says entertaining has to be stressful!
